From the “Etosha” park to the Epupa waterfalls, from Damaraland to the rock…
Travel and photograph the beauty of Namibia, the places we will visit are: the Waterberg Plateau National park; Bushmenland, a touching encounter with the San (Bushmen) people; memorable game drives in Etosha National park; the mystical landscape of Sandwich Harbour where the golden dunes meet the cold Atlantic ocean. The tour ends with the fascinating Namib desert to visit the famous Sossusvlei dunes, and the “Deadvlei” probably the most photographed place in Namibia.

Our tour includes:

Upon your arrival at Windhoek International Airport, collected your luggage and complete the entry formalities, you will find your guide/driver and will be with you for the entire duration of the trip.
We will head north along a mainly tarred road until we reach the Waterberg Plateau park, the mountain of water that rises near Otjiwarongo. In the afternoon we can take a relaxed walk to the top of the Plateau.

Our destination of today will be the Bushmenland region, one of the most isolated in Namibia. Here we will meet one of the most fascinating Indigenous people of souther Africa: the San, better known as the Bushmen. The San are able to survive with ancient hunting and gathering skill. We will have the opportunity to experience with the San and learning their way of life by visiting their village and going on a morning walk in the bush with the hunters that will show as their bush skills.

To day is dedicated in visiting their village and walking in the bush with the San hunters who will help us understand how they manage to live in an essential way, exploiting the scarce sources of life, hunting and harvesting the natural habitat has to offer. They will show us how they light a fires without modern tools, with the tools they hunt, how they make arrows and tools for hunting; we will also understand how deep their knowledge is of the flora and fauna that sustain and care for them. In the evening we will attend the typical traditional dances. A local guide / interpreter will be with us all the time to make this experience unique and unforgettable.

A final farewell to our new friends and we will depart for Etosha National Park, a must-see destination for anyone who loves nature and wildlife. The Etosha National Park has an area of 22,912 square kilometres and is one of the largest parks in Africa. Etosha means “great white place” and owes its name to the color of it’s pan, an ancient dried up lake within the park, a salty depression that extends for 4,730 square kilometres.
In the park there are 114 species of mammals, 340 birds and 110 reptiles. The park will reveal itself in all its magnificence as soon as we begin to drive the various internal dirt roads of the park, where our first safari will begin.

The two days will be dedicated to the unforgettable safari in the park. At the first light of dawn, along the dirt roads that intersect inside the park, we will reach the numerous water holes where the animals go to drink; we will observe wildebeest, elephants, giraffes, black-faced impalas, antelopes of different species, oryx, kudu, zebras while they quench their thirst. We will search for the shy predators such as Lions, Leopards, Cheetahs, Hyenas, as well as numerous birds such as the colorful lilac-breasted roller, the Crowned Plover and various species of Eagles. Of course the animals are always on the move, sightings are frequent but never guaranteed, especially with regard to large predators.

Along a comfortable tarred road we will on our way to Walvis Bay, a town located on the Namib coast of the Atlantic Ocean. The Namib coast, when the cold wind blows from the West, i.e. from the ocean, the phenomenon of the fog persists, which covers everything with a thin layer of micro drops of water, a source of life for many animals and plants that have adapted to live in the desert and essential condition for the extraordinary life in the desert. In the afternoon there will be a suggestive and relaxing walk along the Walvis Bay lagoon.

On board a off-road vehicle, accompanied by an expert guide / driver, we will make an exciting excursion on the desert dunes. We will discover the extraordinary landscape surrounding Sandwich Harbour where the huge golden dunes of the Namib Desert meet the cold waters of the Atlantic Ocean. Along the coastal track, we will cross the immense Kuiseb River mouth, until we reach Sandwich Harbour; an extensive, shallow lagoon populated by numerous seabirds: flamingos, pelicans, cormorants. On the way back we will visit Pelican Point where we will visit a Cape fur seals basking lazily in the sun. We will have lunch during our excursion.

We depart towards the stunning Namib desert traveling inside Namib Naukluft National Park. Todays transfer will be an opportunity to appreciate the great variety of landscapes: mountains, hills, the Kuiseb canyon and vast flat expanses. During the journey we will make a stop with an inevitable photo on the Tropic of Capricorn line. We continue and stop for a cup of coffee with the best apple pie in the small settlement of Solitaire.

The day starts very early: dawn is in fact the best time to enjoy the magic of the desert. In the early morning the large dunes are painted with intense warm colours ranging from bright orange to apricot. We will reach the Sossusvlei area and visit the suggestive “Deadvlei“, characterised by the contrast of colours between the dark solitary ancient skeletons dead acacias, the white clay pan, the orange dunes and the blue intense sky. A paradise for the photographers enthusiasts. The more enterprising will be able to climb the highest dune in the world: the famous “Big Daddy” (about 220 meters from the base). The day will end with a visit to Sesriem Canyon, a deep and narrow gorge originating from the waters of the Tschaub River.

Transfer to Windhoek passing through the Speetshoogte Pass which offers a spectacular view of the desert, marking the end of our trip to Namibia. A last nostalgic look at the boundless Savannah, wishing us a goodbye to Africa, arriving at the international airport in time for the return flight.

We can organise a one-night extension to the Spitzkoppe (1784 m), placing it in the 7th day of the tour, then continue with the described program (of course, this extension will be organised from the beginning).
Departure south to reach the Spitzkoppe, a conglomerate of granite monoliths. The landscape is majestic and has various sets that any photographer will appreciate, most notably a natural granite arch. The sunset lights will introduce us to night photography.
